Carol, Marlon’s mom, calls herself an overprotective Mom, but we consider her a loving parent that is always looking out for her children. Her son, Marlon, 43, has cerebral palsy and has now developed kidney problems. He has had many surgeries including surgery for scoliosis and a hip resection. Life is not easy for him but he is always up and makes those around him feel better. He lives in a house with four other young men with medical needs. The nurses that provide great care 24 hours a day for these men have become very attached. Marlon has an electric wheelchair and is a real people person. They call him the "greeter" because when someone walks through the door of the Elm Street House, he is there with a smile and friendly "HI"! Since he just began dialysis in August, Carol is learning about clothes that make it easier for him and the staff at the dialysis center. Winters are very cold in Iowa, and Marlon will need special clothes for going to dialysis 3 times a week, church attendance, etc. Our new unisex pullover will be called the “MARLON”, in honor of Marlon Card! His positive attitude and loving personality is an inspiration to us all.
